Mickey O’ Sullivan On Mastering The Art of Pretend

“The acting must be exact; the focus is sharp; the sounds of the text are audible, as clear as they can be.” – Michel Piccoli.

That is what Mickey O’Sullivan brings to the table in whatever character he portrays, precise and clear.

The Chicago Actor via New York has been on TV since his diaper years, literally depicting “Adam Hughes” as a baby in the iconic soap opera “As the World Turns” [Mickey O’Sullivan, IMDB]. Being a frequent guest star on NBC’s Chicago PD, “you don’t want to waste the actors/crews time with more than two takes,” he said, “you want to come prepared.”

Believe it not – acting – was not really on his radar; teenage Mickey spent years in the ice rink playing hockey, and like any young athlete, he dreamt being Wayne Gretzky, being a pro only for those dreams to be stalled by an injury.

He then found acting again when Mr. Tom Dzurison, his high school drama, offered an alternative from getting into trouble. Since then, it was crisscrossing between theatres, television shows, and, yes, the big screen.

For the last three seasons of NBC/Wolf Entertainment Wednesday hit procedural, Chicago PD, Mickey had made a considerable impression to its #ChiHard fandom playing the thorn on Officer Kevin Atwater’s side (played by former Illinois State University alumni, LaRoyce Hawkins) as Detective Tom Doyle.

Mickey has also been on FOX’s Empire and APB, consistently working on various independent films and web-series namely, “”Drawn Back Home”, “Driftless”, “Maneater”, “All American Sex Offender, “The Leaves Fall,” and “Everything Fine” just to name a few.

Mickey reminds everyone to look out for a dramatic film entitled “Road To Boston,” where he shot in South Korean pre-COVID, a project he is very proud to be part of,

Mickey O’Sullivan studied acting at Illinois State University, Michael Howard Studios, UCB-NYC, Chicago Shakespeare, Second City, and The Annoyance Theater.
