Cidni Joy, A Pint and A Half of Aloha

You may remember her from Marcus Mariota’s First Hawaiian Bank Mobile Deposit Commercial, jumping up and down on the couch after Marcus signed the check.  Since then Cidni Joy Romias has become a consistent personality on our television.

This delightful 10 year old loves sitting in front of the mirror and playing around with some make up.  Cidni Joy says, “I love blending colors and coming up with different styles and looks.”  She added, “My sister and I work with jewelry and we come up with our own designs using gemstones and healing stones.  Even our loved ones seemed to really like our finished products and have purchased a few from us.”

Cidni says her inspiration to be an actor growing up came from watching the Nickelodeon and Disney shows.  “As I watch my favorite shows, I noticed how the actors interact with each other on the set.  I also found out later that there were possibilities to pursue acting while living here in Hawaii that could lead to being on television.”

Cidni is one of the students that have been attending Celebrity Experience, a program for upcoming young actors founded by Disney Channel’s Zach and Cody’s Adrian R’Mante (a.k.a Esteban).

Cidni says, “I admire Ariana Grande because she is talented and Ariana loves performing and acting and dancing and singing, just like me.”

“He is a really nice guy,” as she describes former Heisman Trophy and Las Vegas quarterback, Marcus Mariota. Both Marcus Mariota and Cidni Joy shared the limelight with Russell Satele in the First Hawaiian Bank commercial.  “In the commercial, it shows how excited I was to receive his autograph and in reality I was truly feeling and screaming that actual emotion…. I have Marcus Mariota’s autograph!!!”

A natural on-screen, Cidni is also determined to succeed in a business that is not for the faint of heart. She hones her craft by preparing herself and training religiously. “Training is important”, Cidni says, “I believe in myself and in what I can do but having a coach like Adrian R’Mante and his unconditional support, makes it all more better.”

“I just came back from Los Angeles after attending the Celebrity Experience training and workshops,” when asked how she prepares for her recurring role on Hawaii 5-0 as the young Akela Lukela, “Everything I learned was very fresh in my mind, and I can still hear Adrian’s voice even after I auditioned.”

“I feel included,” when asked what was the best part of playing with Dennis Chun, a.k.a. Sgt. Duke Lukela granddaughter on Hawaii Five-0.  “Hawaii Five-0 has always focused a lot on being a family.  And that’s what I felt on how everyone there made me feel, both on and off the set. I felt as if I was a part of a very huge family.”

“I am grateful and very appreciative,” Cidni says.  “It is the best attitude that young actors should have if they want to be successful in acting. Opportunities are blessings that one should not take for granted.”

“And I am grateful and thankful for my mom and my older sister Tori. They both took me to my first audition which changed my entire life.”
